Add Page Numbers
Add page numbers to a PDF document. Pick a format such as Page 1 of 10, choose where the number appears, and decide which page gets the first number.
Result
Choose a PDF and select Add page numbers. The result will appear here.
How to use
- Choose a PDF file or drag it into the upload area.
- Select a number format and a position on the page.
- Set the start number and the first page to number. Use page 2 to leave a cover page unnumbered.
- Select Add page numbers, then download the result.
Supported files and limits
- Input: one PDF file up to 50 MB.
- Numbers are added as black text in the Helvetica font, 0.5 inch from the page edge.
- Rotated pages are handled, so the number appears at the correct edge as you see the page.
- Password-protected PDFs are not supported. Remove the password first.
How numbering works
- The first numbered page gets the start number, and the next pages count up from it.
- In formats with a total, such as 3 of 10, the total is the last number used.
- Pages before the first numbered page are not changed.
- Existing page content is not moved. If your document already has a footer, choose a different position to avoid overlap.
Privacy
- Your file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to a server.
- No account is required.
Troubleshooting
- If a number overlaps your text, choose another position or a smaller font size.
- If the start number or page is rejected, use whole numbers inside the allowed range.
- If a file is rejected as damaged, test it in a PDF viewer first.
